Do I have a RCD?
To check if you have fixed RCD protection, go to your consumer unit and have a look to see if there is a device with a pushbutton marked ‘T’ or ‘Test’. This ‘test’ button is part of an RCD. If an RCD is fitted, there should also be a label on or near the consumer unit stating ‘test quarterly’.
Why do I need a RCD
An RCD, or residual current device, is a life-saving device which is designed to prevent you from getting a fatal electric shock if you touch something live, such as a bare wire. It can also provide some protection against electrical fires. RCDs offer a level of personal protection that ordinary fuses and circuit-breakers cannot provide.
My Fuse keeps burning out?
If your fuse keeps burning out on a circuit this would indicate a fault as the fuse will only burn when there is a surge of current pulled down the cable. Contact a registered electrician to investigate it further!
My Circuit Breaker keeps Tripping?
If your circuit breaker keeps tripping, unplug any appliances on the circuit and try to switch it on now, if this doesn't work then this would indicate a fault as the circuit breaker (MCB) will only trip when there is a surge of current pulled down the cable. Leave the circuit breaker in the OFF position and Contact a registered electrician to investigate it further!
What is a Competent Person?

Needed a new cable between the boiler and airing cupboard which are not even on the same floor. Steve & Jamie were more than happy to explain the routing options to me, and then did a very neat job, making good when they had finished. Would I use them again? They would be my first choice.
